This entire requirement is extracted from the mother’s diet and the supplementation she takes.  Most likely due to insufficient intake of calcium from the diet all of these requirements are taken from the mother’s bones. Almost all mothers or especially those between ages 18 and 50 years need to consume approx 1,000 mg of calcium per day to protect them from bone loss during lactation as well as in pregnancy.
